Blue Slush by Seven Leaves
There is no doubt the nostalgic Blue Icee connection and the recollection of a very familiar smell is what drew me into trying the Cannabis Strain I am reviewing today, Blue Slush by Seven Leaves.Â
Seven Leaves is a Sacramento-based Cannabis Company with members of the team who have been working in the Cannabis industry since 2008. They have an energy-efficient 115,000 square foot indoor grow operation powered on 100% renewable energy. I love the sustainable approach and wish all Cannabis Companies operated this way.
Now I have been smoking both Seven Leaves and Blue Slush for a minute. I am sorry I didn’t document it and share it with you sooner. I hope you don’t feel I am cheating on you when I try fantastic unique strains and do not immediately share it with you.Â
Genetics
Based on the logo, font, and jar, I believe Blue Slush to be an homage to the original blue icee that I romanticized so much about in my intro. The flavor, more specifically, is The Original Blue Raspberry by Icee.
So how did Seven Leaves get here? What are the genetics? Blue Slush is the cross of two new school classics, Sherbert and Gelato.
Appearance
I found myself challenged when trying to describe the appearance of the Blue Slush colas. They have it all—a generous layer of perfectly formed, resinous trichome crystals with a fair amount of orange hairs. Simultaneously, the buds are a splendid mix of light and dark green hues with a splash of purple hues here and there.
Aroma
It was the aroma that did it for me, though. It was the aroma that enabled me to quickly and easily answer the question, “Can cannabis smell like a Blue Icee?”. It turns out the answer is yes. The realization completely blew me away.
The fragrant Blue Slush flowers have a complex nose that brings me right back to my childhood, taking those first few steps into the K-Mart. I found the aroma to have a forward Blueberry and Blue Raspberry nose complemented by floral and earthy notes.
The Inhale and The Exhale
The inhale and exhale went in very different directions based on berry but complemented each other very well. The inhale was a dominant forward blueberry palette complemented by light floral and earthy notes. In contrast, the exhale took a cool refreshing turn with almost completely being overtaken by creamy raspberry notes.
So was the flavor profile inline with the icee Seven Leaves is working to pay homage to? Yes, I would say the mix of blueberry and creamy raspberry notes had many similarities to the original blue raspberry icee.
The Smoking Experience
I enjoyed the smoking experience. I found both the inhale and exhale to be very smooth, with the exhale’s berry creaminess adding to the smoothness. Also worth noting the flowers burned to a clean white ash #whiteashgang.
The High
The heavy Indica has a pleasant heavy in da couch high. I found the high ideal for chilling and relaxing, but it would also be good for pain management and increasing your appetite.
So was Blue Slush by 7 Leaves worth the money and would I buy it again?
Yes and Yes. I have found Seven Leaves’ flowers to be of a top-shelf quality flower while also being very competitively priced at many dispensaries.
Creating a sustainable solution powered through renewal energy allows for the opportunity to cultivate high-quality cannabis at a lower cost, allowing the consumer and mother earth to benefit. I think Seven Leaves should be recognized for their efforts.
Where can you find Blue Slush by Seven Leaves?
I have seen Seven Leaves Cannabis at storefront dispensaries and cannabis delivery services all over California.
