Stoner Story
Last weekend I went to the Jokes Up Pop Up on Melrose. When I went the year prior, I scored Hawaiin Runtz, Pink Runtz, and Peach Kobbler Runtz.
I was very excited to see the offerings this go around; however, a lot has changed during the last year and a half. Yung LB and the entire Runtz Gvng has since become a dominant force in the cannabis industry. You cannot look at a menu without seeing all sorts of Runtz flowers, concentrates, pre-rolls, and edibles.
Background
All of the Runtz Crew success did not happen overnight. Yung LB has been working at this for years. He began building relationships with Berner long ago while working to cultivate the most exotic flowers possible. Yung LB also was able to differentiate his brand by creating such an influential marketing powerhouse; you can see Berner himself trying to replicate it with brands like Mintzzz.
Genetics
At the first pop up I went to a year ago, I regret not buying more flowers and strains. On this trip, I went prepared to purchase everything. Regretfully they did not have too many strains available. The current strain/brand they made available was Flavors.
The strain Flavors by Jokes Up has been around since at least May of 2020 with a slightly different bag. However, the strain has a minimal footprint on the internet. Also, the proprietary genetics of Jokes Up’s Flavors is a mystery.
Appearance
The Flavors’ colas almost have a mosaic-like appearance. There are many different hues, tones, hairs, and crystals coming together to form this bud. You can barely see a mix of purples, light green, and dark green tones in the nug structure underneath the perfect layer of resinous trichome crystals.
Aroma
It is challenging to say, but my favorite part of these flowers might be the scent. The aroma is sweet and tangy with a bubblegum nose with lite floral notes.
In my adventures over the past twenty years going to dispensaries, I have seen the real deal bubble gum strain a few times. When I did, it would last for a year or so before disappearing as fast as it appeared. The nose of this flower was very similar and is just as heavenly.
The Inhale
With such a bubblegum nose, I was expecting to be greeted with something similar on the inhale. However, the inhale turns out to be something very different. I found the inhales’ flavor profile to be very complex, rich, creamy vanilla notes complemented by dark chocolate banana notes.
The Exhale
In contrast, the exhale was more in line with the nose. I discovered the exhale to be a mix of sweet notes similar to sugary bubble gum and rainbow unicorn lollipops.
The Smoking Experience
I appreciated the smoking experience. The complex flavor profile made it very enjoyable. I found the smoke to be a clean, cool rush of complex sweet flavors.
The High
The high was a fast-acting, relaxing, clean head high that slowly overtakes the entire body. I found the smoke useful for both daytime and nighttime use. It is excellent for anxiety, stimulating your appetite, or the second Monday of the week, Tuesday…..
So was it worth the money and would I buy it again?
While this strain had some great attributes to it and is a good experience, the sticker price of an eighth comes in at $75 and I do not think it is worth the money. I would not buy it again or recommend it.
Where can it be found?
I got mine at the Jokes Up Pop up in LA. I don’t believe this strain is being sold in dispensaries just yet.
