Ice Cream Cake by Ember Valley

I love Cake. So Far I have reviewed six different strains with cake in the name. Wedding Cake, Frosted Cakes, Jungle Cake, Kushberry Cheesecake, Florida Cake, and Wifi Cake.

I have reviewed and tried Ember Valley once before and was looking forward to trying them again.

It is worth noting there are a couple of different Ice Cream Cake Strains with very different genetics floating in the ethers. Ember Valley took advantage of Seed Junky genetics to grow their Ice Cream Cake.

Seed Junkys’ Ice Cream Cake genetics is Wedding Cake (my Favorite Cake) crossed with Gelato 33 (my arch nemesis). J/K Berner burned me out on Gelato 7 years ago. I appreciate and enjoy a gelato when crossed well.

Putting all my gelato baggage aside, I heard a lot of good things about Ember Valley’s Ice Cream Cake and made sure I made time to review it.

One of the things I love about wedding cake is the sweet delicate notes of vanilla buttercream, lemon meringue and toasted almond. I think when done right the characteristics of Gelato can add some complexity adding to the sweetness or even spice.

The fragrance is not what I expected cracking open the jar. I would describe the aroma as herbal and earthy with light notes of chocolate.

The inhale is creamy sweetness the combination of vanilla with lighter notes of berries.

The exhale continues the creaminess but takes a complex turn with lite notes of earthiness, chocolate and banana.

While writing this review I smoked a couple bowls trying to get my descriptions just right and my doorbell rang. When coming back in to the smoke filled room the chocolate nose of the smoke was dominant, present and very pleasant.

I really enjoy this flavor profile. Granted I am cake bias, but I feel this different from other cakes. I really enjoy the unique notes of the exhale and very impressed with the characteristics they were able to pull from both strains.

The heavy high results in a deep relaxation making this a great strain to enjoy before bedtime or when looking to escape.

Was it worth the money and would I try it again? Yes Ember Valley did a great job delivering on top shelf strain giving justice to genetics done at Seed Junky. I enjoyed both the flavor profile and high.
