Lemon Tree by the Brand Lemon Tree Cannabis Strain Review

The Lemon Tree Strain by Lemon Tree

“Have you tried Lemon Tree? No the Real Lemon Tree.” This is a conversation I find myself having with many smokers and a lot of budtenders. While Lemon Tree is a popular strain, it is also the name of a brand, who originated the strain and helped bring it to the masses.

Lemon Tree is a group of cultivators based out of the Santa Cruz Mountains with well over a decade of experience in the Legal Cannabis Industry. Lemon Tree took the Medicinal Cannabis Industry by storm when they released their product around the middle of the 215 revolution, which I miss so much. I immediately fell in love with both the Lemon Tree brand and strain and have been ever since.

Genetics

The Lemon Tree team has clearly demonstrated their terp chasing pheno hunting abilities with their strain Lemon Tree. What they have done is so much more than just crossing two strains. They created one of the most complex terpene profiles on the market with over 20 terpenes, compared to most strains, which tend to have a terpene count on the lower side of single digits.

The genetic lineage of Lemon Tree is Lemon Skunk crossed with Sour Diesel. But again, it is so much more than just a cross. Lemon Trees’ all-natural clean green approach results in a unique, extremely clean burning flower free of chemicals that stands out from all the rest.

Over the years, Lemon Tree has grown and expanded with outsourced grows somewhat similar to the approach I described in my previous review regarding Cookies, Connected, and Jungle Boys. However, Lemon Tree did things very differently, only taping the best of best grows, like The Guild, Harborside, and others. An advantage to being based in the bay, you have better access to experienced, expert cultivators. Also, I think Lemon Tree take more pride in their product.

Appearance

A long history and multiple grows have resulted in a few Lemon Tree flowers’ variants over the years. They had the white label, the blue label, the light deprived, the crazy top-shelf black jar variant from the guild, and today the black bag. You can make a case that some of those were just different packaging, but I saw small variations between some and larger ones between others with a constant theme of a bursting flavor profile grown in a natural clean way.

The cutt I am reviewing today is from the Harborside Grow. Except for the past couple of years, I have been going pretty consistently to Harborside since they opened. First, the Oakland location and later the San Jose location. I will take some time in the future to write about Oaksterdam and will include Harborside, which came around long after Oaksterdam in the later part of the 215 timeline.

Harborside did a great job with this strain. Often all-natural flowers will take a hit on appearance. Nevertheless, these all-natural flowers look gorgeous. The colas’ leaves are a mix of dark and light green hues with lots of orange hairs all over the bud.

Aroma

The nose and flavor profile of the Lemon Trees flowers genuinely allow it to stand out. The flowers are bursting with a bright citrus effervescence. A bold, defined nose that leaves you concerned the flavor profile might be too forward but is actually bright, not too heavy, incredibly refreshing, and well rounded.

The Inhale and The Exhale

The inhale, this is where the magic happens. If you have read my blog posts in the past, I will often mention growing up on and loving me some Sour Diesel. Sour Diesel plays a significant role in this strain, providing a fantastic foundation and dieselly elements, but the Lemon notes steal the show.

The inhale begins with a complex blend of floral, earthy notes complimented by delicate gas notes but only for a split second before being completely overtaken in a bursting wave of citrus flavor. For the most part, the citrus flavor profile is dominated by lemon notes, which are complemented by some delicate orange citrus notes. The inhale’s bursting lemon flavor profile lasts what feels like forever as it persists through the exhale, lingering long about long after.

The Smoking Experience

The Lemon Tree smoking experience is one of my favorites and is very similar to the smoking experience of another of my favorites, Lemon Cherry Gelato by Cannatique. Granted, both have a lemon flavor profile, and it is worth taking into account LCG got there a very different way by crossing GSC and Sunset Sherbert. Nevertheless, I find significant similarities in the smooth, clean, refreshing smoking experience. The flowers burn clean, lack any harsh characteristics, and feel like you are french kissing heavenly clouds.

The High

The high of this strain is a very interesting one. At times, it can be energetic and uplifting, while at other times, it can knock you out. Many people have fallen asleep on my couch, smoking this strain. I think the high depends on what time you are smoking the flowers and what kind of day you have had.

So was Lemon Tree worth the money and would I buy it again?

Yes and Yes. #allday. I find it essential always to keep this strain in my stash. It is the perfect remedy when you can’t sleep or perfect for enjoying a day at the beach just vibing. I apologize for keeping this amazing brand from all of you for so long.

Where can you find Lemon Tree?

Lemon Tree can be found in California and Colorado. I can’t wait for the pandemic to be over, for life to get back to normal, and to have the ability to travel again. I look forward to heading out to Colorado to do a ton of reviews and try their version.
