Unruly by BLEM, an Exotic California Cannabis Strain Review

Unruly by Blem

Unruly by Blem

BLEM has been making some waves in social media recently. I have seen many reviewers reviewing them and saw them make many people’s best of 2020 list, which they recently shared either right before or after the new year. Surprising, BLEM has a tiny google footprint, and it was even challenging to find them on Instagram at the handle @blemvibe.

On a visit to LA Kush on Valley a few months back, I noticed they began carrying the BLEM Brand. One of the reasons I enjoy LA Kush is that they do a good job keeping a wide variety of quality third-party strains. The budtender highly recommended BLEM and specifically their OG Strain Unruly. So I went with it. Unruly is my first time trying a strain by BLEM.

Genetics

There are some grey areas and debate around the genetics of Unruly by BLEM. Some say it is a throwback to the OG Kush of the 90s. However, we never had any OG Kush that good in NorCal. While others say it is Billy Kimber rebranded, which I would debate. Regardless, the genetics of Unruly by BLEM is a mystery, but they deliver on a classic OG.

Appearance

The Unruly flowers are large and fluffy. The flowering tops have a classic OG appearance, a light green hue complemented by long orange hairs and visible resinous trichome crystals. The buds were slightly dry when opening the jar. However, they got significantly drier after opening the jar. After migrating the flowers from the Unruly jar over to a @restashjar with a better airtight seal, I was able to breathe some life back into them. It is worth noting this batch was one of the drier, lower quality batches and why it stood out to Fire, Mr. Scale.

Aroma

Unruly by BLEM has a very traditional OG Kush aroma. It begins with very forward herbal notes complemented by extremely delicate floral notes with a bit of musky gas lurking about that you can only find when looking hard enough. Granted, I am sure the dryness of the batch I purchased impacted the aroma taking away and dulling some characteristics.

The Inhale and The Exhale

The inhale of Unruly by BLEM included everything thing I look for in the flavor profile of an OG Kush. The inhale begins with piney, citrus, and pepper notes with lingering musky sour notes that become present later in the inhale and continue through the exhale. In addition to the sour musky notes, the exhale is complemented by herbal, citrus, gassy notes.

The Smoking Experience

The gas and pepper notes make this a more intense smoking experience than some of the more smooth, refreshing experiences I had with some of the strains of my more recent reviews. Regardless I still found the smoking experience very enjoyable and very much in line with a good OG.

The High

The high was more cerebral than body but still a nice mix of both. A heavy stone for chilling, playing video games, run, and taking naps. The happy, uplifting high will also help with stress as well pain relief.

So was Unruly by Blem worth the money and would I buy it again?

Unruly by BLEM is a very potent OG kush. I recommend keeping a jar of it when you are dealing with pain or insomnia. It will have you knocked out with no pain in no time.

Where can Unruly by Blem be found?

LA Kush on Valley sells Unruly, and other BLEM strains for $75 an eighth, as do other places such as The Circle in Long Beach. I come from an old school generation who believe an eighth of Zaza should never be more than $60. I am disappointed to see the industry go in this direction. I feel like the cannabis industry is exploiting its customers.
