Lumpy’s Background
Today I am reviewing Dulce Menage by Lumpy’s. Lumpy’s is an award-winning Northern California Cultivator. Lumpy’s is also the creator of the strains Apple Fritter, Lemon Trill, and Cherry Jane. I must say Lumpy’s set the bar very high for any Fritter strain, and their Apple Fritter is what I use as the baseline to judge any other.
A trend I noticed in both Lumpy’s and Fig Farms is that both tend to lean heavily on the fruit-oriented strains. However, it is also worth noting that Fig Farms has been going in a more Figamint direction as of late. Regardless if you are into fruit-oriented strains, both are providers of some of the best.
The Genetics of Dulce Menage
So I did some digging around the genetics and wasn’t able to come up with much. That being said, I believe we can infer some things from the name. Dulce means sweet, while ménage means the members of a household. However, I am pretty sure ménage in this scenario is in reference to ménage a trois, where three people share a sexual experience. Taking all the above into account would lead me to believe we are looking at three sweet strains crossed together. Granted, I am passing up on the opportunity to make a dirty joke here…I got nothing.
After re-reading my writing, I came up with another idea. What if they actually do mean members of the household with the use of ménage? The three members being the three in-house strains Apple Fritter, Lemon Trill, Cherry Jane. The three members of the house having a good ole ménage a trois.
Appearance
Lumpy’s Dulce Menage flowering tops are a mix of light green and purple hues with some dark green leaves green scattered about. The Colas have many really long orange hairs and a ton of short white hairs with trichome crystals visible to the naked eye.
The Aroma of Dulce Menage
The complex, intricate appearance and aroma are very much in line with the theory that we see Apple Fritter, Lemon Trill, and Cherry Jane crossed together to create the strain Dulce Ménage. At first, the nose can come off a little more orange citrusy, but as you dig deeper in, you can begin to realize that is the lemon and sour apple notes of the more dominant Lemon Trill and Apple Fritter strains marrying together perfectly create what comes across as orange citrus. I wasn’t able to find too much of the Cherry Jane in the aroma.
The Inhale and The Exhale
The inhale is a complex mix of lemon citrus and sour, earthy notes complimented by delicate cheese notes that at times can marry together so well, they come across like an orange citrus flavor profile. The exhale takes a sour apple turn with lingering sour notes.
The Smoking Experience
The smoking experience is impeccable. The flowers burn clean, have a fantastic dynamic flavor profile, and are very enjoyable in a bong, vaporizer, joint or blunt.
The High
Lumpy’s Dulce Menage’s high is my happy place. A very functional, perfect balance of head and body high. Perfect for a day at the beach, a walk in the hills, or just enjoying a beautiful day. I think the flowers would be suitable for appetite stimulation or anxiety from a medicinal perspective.
So was Dulce Menage worth the money and would I buy it again?
Yes and yes. Lumpy’s use to cost a lot less but have always been the top of the top shelf. I regretted not buying more Lumpy’s when it was cheaper. They have recently dropped a bunch of great strains I am looking to try like, Ben and Berries, LAX, which is their Apple Fritter x LA Snow and Shirley Temple, which is their Cherry Jane x Apple Fritter.
Where can Dulce Menage be found?
Lumpy’s can be a little challenging to find. I have been finding it at Jungle Boys and March and Ash pretty consistently. However, this time I got mine at Cookies San Diego, and while I have had my share of things to say about Cookies, I have had consistently good customer service experiences at Cookies, San Diego. If only that one budtender would have strayed me away from that batch of Snow Montana.
