Galactic Gas by Alien Labs ~ An Orgy of Gelato

Galactic Gas by Alien Labs

Galactic Gas by Alien Labs is not a new strain and has been around for quite a while. Alien Labs was started in 2014 in Northern California by Ted Lidie. Ted is a second-generation farmer who set out to create a lifestyle focused on quality. Before starting Alien Labs, Ted founded and operated The Golden State Wellness dispensary learning the ins and outs of the cannabis industry. All of this coming from a small basement grow operation with six lights out of Northern California.

Galactic Gas by Alien Labs is the cross of Gelato #45 and Gelato #41. Welcome to the Gelato incest orgy. Towels are over there…

Appearance of Galactic Gas by Alien Labs

To be frank, I am disappointed in the appearance. The buds in my jar are all tiny and hava a ton of stems. Now granted, stems are part of the plant, and I get it, but general clean-up makes the buds appear wholely intact. There were so many stems with buds on only have of them; I got the sense I got a second-hand smoked bag.

Aroma

Regretfully, I found the aroma incredibly subdued. When digging in deep, you could discover a fantastic lite tropical Italian ice-like nose, but I wanted it at least ten times stronger. Also noticeably absent were any and all gas notes. I would describe the nose as a very faint tropical citrus complemented by delicate sweet berry notes.

The Inhale and The Exhale

Thankfully, the inhale had more representation than the aroma but was still slightly muted relative to where I would have liked to see it. The inhale was a mix of sweet gassy tropical citrus notes that evolve into a creamy earthiness flavor profile during the exhale.

The Smoking Experience

Through the smoking experience, you can tell these were quality flowers grown the right way. They burned clean with a very clean high. I just need them to have a much forward aroma and flavor profile. As I continue my stoner journey, I find the flavor profile so much more important to me than the high. Granted, that is very much a subjective personal preference.

The High

As I mentioned above, there are some excellent qualities and aspects to these Galatic Gas flowers by Alien Labs. The high is incredibly clean; IE I found it to be a very functional high that gets you in a perfect headspace. The high was so clean at times it reminded me of a dab high.

So was Galactic Gas by Alien Labs worth the money and would I buy it again?

I opened this jar with high expectations. I was so ready to have and really wanted a quality, top-shelf experience. Notwithstanding, in just comparing it to the last strain I reviewed, Shermints by The Cure Company, The Cure Company blew Alien Labs out of the water. The Cure Company buds were nice large fluffy buds, with a strong, forward nose and a robust flavor profile compared to the tiny cola’d subdued aroma and lackluster flavor profile of Galactic Gas by Alien Labs.

Also worth considering, I wasn’t impressed enough with Sherbmints by The Cure Company that I would repurchase it. Maybe going in with high expectations was part of my problem, but then again, a brand based on quality should deliver consistent quality.

Where can Galactic Gas by Alien Labs be found?

On a recent trip to the new March and Ash in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego, while picking up some 710 Labs concentrates, some Alien Labs caught my eye. I was impressed by March and Ash’s selection of four different indoor strains and quite a few outdoor strains. In the end, I walked with the Galatic Gas by Alien Labs with my inherent bias for gas. I experienced outstanding customer service and somewhat competitive prices. I would rate the overall March and Ash experience well.

A variety of strains by Alien Labs can be found all over Northern and Southern California at the higher-end dispensaries. With that being said, they usually don’t stay on the menu too long as they typically sell out quickly. As I said at the beginning of this review, I got my Galactic Gas by Alien Labs at March and Ash for Seventy Dollars.
