Dino Duck by The Gooniez and Jelly Co Background
The cultivators I am discussing in today’s review are from the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Official Gooniez and Jelly Co. are both San Francisco-based boutique cannabis cultivators. I have reviewed quite a few different Gooniez strains on the blog, but I am excited to see what Jelly Co. has to offer finally. Today I will be reviewing Dino Duck, the recent collab between The Gooniez and Jelly Co.
The Genetics of Dino Duck
Dino Duck by Jelly Cannabis Co. and The Official Goonies has unknown genetics. However, the aroma of musty library books hints towards lemon cherry gelato being part of the genetics. Not to mention the really clean high that I believe is also an indicator.
Appearance
Viewing the buds from a distance, the light green hue and long orange hairs dominate. The Dino Duck Flowers have some darker green and purple hues on some of the leaves, but for the most part, the appearance of these buds is bright green and covered in resinous trichome crystals.
Aroma
Earlier in the review, I discuss Dino Duck’s aroma by Jelly Co and The Gooniez being similar to musty old library books. This is not my description of Lemon Cherry Gelato but instead someone who commented on my review. While I didn’t want to accept the description in the beginning, but after trying it again, I can confirm the aroma is very similar. I would describe the scent as musky, creamy citrus lemon notes combined with sweet cherry notes complemented by delicate earthy notes.
The Inhale and The Exhale
I found the fantastic aroma of Dino Duck by The Gooniez and Jelly Co. translated perfectly to a mouthful of flavor profile. I found the inhale to be the perfect mix of creamy lemon and sweet-tart cherry notes. While the exhale allowed for the sweet-tart cherry notes to dominate and more of the vanilla, almond notes to make an appearance finishing with lingering almond notes. After dissecting the flavor profile, I believe that this might be a Wedding Cake with Lemon Cherry Gelato cross, but this only a guess.
The Smoking Experience of Dino Duck
Ok. Dino Duck is Straight Zaza. The aroma, the flavor profile, the smoking experience it is the complete package. The flowers have a soft, delicate hit to them that tastes like sweet nectar of the gods. The buds burn incredibly clean and are what I would consider the clean green of today.
The High
The perfect headspace also leads me to believe this might be wedding cake crossed with lemon cherry gelato. It is an ideal uplifting high but also a relaxing stoney chill experience at the same time, excellent for inspiring creativity and not too heady. Dino Duck would be suitable for stimulating appetite or alieving anxiety.
So was Dino Duck worth the money and would I buy it again?
Yes and yes. One of my favorite strains of 2021. I really enjoyed Dino Duck by The Official Gooniez and The Jelly Cannabis Co.
Where can you find Dino Duck?
They recently had this strain at Cookies Hollywood and Cookies San Diego, but it has been hard to find otherwise. I would look towards the new Backpack Boyz location or other Cookies locations.
