Next up is the strain review of Irene by the Russian Assassin Boyz. This is the first time I am both reviewing and trying flowers by the Russian Assassin Boyz.
The Russian Assassin Boyz is a Southern California based next-level cannabis breeder and cultivator. They have a large portfolio of both top-shelf flowers and some very impressive concentrates. Also worth noting the majority of their strains are breed, selected, and grown inhouse.
Being the flower head that I am, they have many unique strains that caught my eye. Firstly, their cross of Wedding Cake, Triangle Kush, and Hardcore OG. Talk about sweet gassy goodness. Sign me up. Secondly, other proprietary strains such as Lockjaw, Roulatto, and their cross of Super Dank and Sunset Sherbert also sound incredible.
Not only is this my first time trying the Russian Assassin Boyz, but this is also my first time trying the strain Irene. Growing up a Connoisseur, I had connoisseur friends, one of which loved strains like Irene and Ingred. I thought it was because he had a thing for redheads but after trying Irene…..
Irene’s genetics are a mystery however it is speculated to have its origins based in OG Kush. With mystery genetics, it only makes sense that it is often debated whether this strain is an Indica or Sativa dominant. I am in the camp that it leans a little more Sativa.
The Irene colas are a mix of light and dark green hues under an abundance of long orange hairs and perfect formed resinous trichome crystals. I felt the flowering tops were reminiscent of a perfectly grown Sour Diesel or OG Kush.
With all that being said, I did not feel really at home until I cracked open the jar and took in that amazeballs nose. I would describe the aroma as a very forward sour and musty fragrance with delicate hints of gas, evergreen, and pine.
Consequently, I was very happy to see the aroma translate so well into very similar tasting notes. The inhale was a very smooth mix of musky, sour, and earthy notes complimented by delicate floral notes.
On the other hand, the exhale took a very complex turn introducing pleasant rubbery burnt wood notes. With the burnt rubber notes lingering on the tongue and dancing with your taste buds.
While the inhale was very smooth, I still found there to be a considerable amount of expansion. Also, I found the flowers to burn clean to a nice white ash, indicators it was grown, flushed, and cured the right way. #whiteashgant
The stone was a quick head change with an uplifting cerebral high while also providing a considerable amount of pain relief. I really enjoyed the high and found it similar to some of my favorite Sativas. As a result, I walked away believing this to be a Sativa dominant hybrid.
So was it worth the money and would I buy it again? Yes and yes. I really enjoyed both the strain and the quality of the flowers. The Russian Assassin Boyz have earned their spot on Top of the Top-Shelf in my book.
Where can it be found? Russian Assassin Boyz Flowers and Concentrates can be found in Dispensaries all over California but can usually always be found in stock at High Season which has a few locations with one in Downtown LA, another in Adelanto, and another in Perris.
