The nature of business is stealing someones idea, making it better and bringing it to market.
If you look back over the last year or so, Yung LB and the Runtz Crew really made some noise in the cannabis industry. And it wasn’t that they did anything to drastically different. I would say their differentiators were really solid marketing and a common theme of “Runtz”
And now we get to Minntz. As described on their website “Minntz was born from the partnership of legendary brands Seed Junkies and Cookies.” I believe Berner is attempting to replicate a lot of the same success seen by Runtz with a lot of the same approach.
The marketing is clean and sleek with the unified theme of Minntz which is a reference to the Thin Mints strain aka GSC Strain. Minntz have released a large variety of strains, at least ten. A lot of the strains are crossed with Thin Mints but i dont believe all of them.
Seed Junkies is being advertised on the packaging where the Cookies logo is no where to be found. This approach of removing Cookies and having Seed Junkies instead makes it come across very boutiquee. It doesn’t come off as mass produced as the normal Cookies brand.
Reflecting on everything I just said and looking down at the bag, I have to say Berner nailed it. So much that even the new Runtz packing looks very similar and the common consumer might easily think they are related.
Now to the review. I believe the genetics of London Pound Minntz to be London Pound Cake crossed with Thin Mints. Diving deeper London Pound Cake is a cross of Sunset Sherbert with an unknown indica. Thin Mints is a cross of Durban Poison and OG Kush.
I have smoked a few bags of London Pound Cake before but Thin Mints really added to and complemented the strain which can be seen in the appearance. The buds are a light green hue with short orange hairs in a white flurry of crystals.
The aroma though is what really got me. It is one of the more complex sweeter bouquets out there. At times you get dead on the nose of Thin Mint Cookies, the real cookies. Other times you can take in more sweet vanilla creamy cakeiness complemented by delicate berry notes.
In the inhale you see the sweetness from the lineage come through. I would describe the inhale as sweet creamy vanilla and burnt almond notes with very light citrus and berry accents if you look hard enough.
The exhale maintains the creaminess slowing dissipating and swapping sweetness for lingering earthiness.
Was there expansion? Yes I was coughing so hard all my neighbors heard.
The high is heavy and NSFW. Make sure you don’t have important stuff to do that day and make sure there is nice place to take a nap nearby, you are going to need it. I would recommend using this strain if you want to induce sleep, increase appetite or forget about your life’s problems.
So was it worth the money and would I buy it again? Yes, I am a fan of the London Pound Cake and I thought the Thin Mints cross really added to both the flavor profile and the high.
I purchased my London Pound Minntz at Cana Harbor in Harbor City. I am enjoying the selection at Cana Harbor. I believe they are one of the best alternatives to Cookies today.
