Over the years I have smoked all types of weed and hashish. 30-40 years ago way before medical there was very little indoor.
Outdoor and Mexican compressed brown weed were the most common in California with the majority of quality outdoor coming out of places in Northern Cali like Humboldt County and Santa Cruz.
Historically I have found outdoor usually to be a little more harsh as it tends not to be manicured as well as most indoor and I have also found it to be in most cases a much heavier high.
These days though outdoor is making a comeback as we are seeing more and more inexpensive outdoor strains coming out of boutique grow houses.
The outdoor version of Planet Dosi by Alien Labs is an example of just that.
Planet Dosi is Dos-si-dos crossed with Gelato 41. Alien Labs makes available both an indoor and outdoor version. This review is for the outdoor version.
When opening the jar you are greeted with a spicy earthy aroma with hints of fruity sunset sherbert.
The inhale is dominated by fruity blueberry notes with exhale taking a spicy peppery earthy turn with a lingering citrus aftertaste.
The outdoor aspects of Planet Dosi dull the flavors and it is definitely more harsh than its cousin the indoor both as expected.
The high is heavy and no where near as clean as the other indoor strains I review on this blog.
Was it worth the money and would I buy it again? It was very reasonably priced for only $30 an Eighth in the South Bay of San Francisco at most clubs and the high packs a hell of punch. 🥊
From my testing I have found Alien Labs to have consistent quality.
It was fun to revisit outdoor but it is not for me unless it’s lemon 🍋 tree 🌲
