Dubz Garden Background
It’s great to see two Cannabis Companies you enjoy collaborating. I have been very excited to see all the fantastic strains coming out of the Dubz Garden and the Official Gooniez collaboration. Both Dubz Garden and The Official Gooniez have been making considerable waves in the Cannabis Industry for many years, and they both have significantly serious skillz.
The trendsetting Dubz Garden helped popularize the strain Peanut Butter Breathe and set the standard for next-level Cannabis marketing. He began by pheno-hunting the most peanut buttery phenos; he could find out a bag of only 12 seeds. Applying countless years of experience growing great cannabis cultivated some of the best Peanut Butter Breathe the world has ever seen.
But as we have seen time and time again on this blog, good cannabis is only half of it. The other half is good marketing. And this is where Dubz Garden stood out, by reinterpreting the Skippy Peanut Butter packaging on a Mylar bag. He took something incredibly familiar and engrained in your brain since a child, seamlessly incorporating the imagery and familiarity.
Furthermore, back then, he was also one of the first 215 cultivators to embrace the new mylar bags and, with such game-changing marketing, helped the mylar bags get attention leading to the widespread adoption we have since seen.
To this day, you can still see how impactful Dubz Garden’s flowers and marketing approach was, with competing brands using a similar marketing approach and PBB’s popularity.
The Horchata Strain
Now, while I would love to be filming and reviewing Dubz Garden’s PBB, I have not seen it on the market for quite some time. Maybe someday… Today, however, I will be reviewing Horchata by Dubz Garden and the Official Gooniez.
Genetics of Horchata
The strain Horchata is the cross of Mochi and Jetfuel Gelato. Mochi aka Mochi Gelato aka Gelato 47 is the cross of the Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies and Sunset Sherbert. In contrast, Jetfuel Gelato has more of a mysterious background but is believed to be Jetuel crossed with Gelato.
Appearance
A flurry of white resinous trichome crystals creates almost what looks like a white blanket of snow on top of a complex mixture of colors found in the Horchata Buds. The flowering tops have leaves that vary from light to dark green hues and deep purple shades. The occasionally found long orange hair round out the deep color spectrum of the colas.
Aroma
After smelling the flower, you can understand why the strain is named Horchata. The nose is a sweet mix of earthy, floral, and spicey notes complemented by delicate creamy notes. Diving deeper into the aroma, you can find that the floral, earthy, creamy notes marry into one seamlessly.
The Inhale and The Exhale
The inhale begins with creamy, earthy notes with a lingering creeping spice, eventually becoming more present. The creaminess continues through the exhale, with the spice taking on sweet cinnamon’s characteristics, perfectly complementing the creaminess.
The Smoking Experience
The creamy spice flavor profile makes for a pleasant smooth smoking experience. Simultaneously, the Jet Fuel lineage adds some serious expansion to it. I also found Horchata by Dubz Garden, and The Official Gooniez burned to a clean white ash. #whiteashgang
The High of Horchata
The high was a nice mix of a head and body high. I found the stone to be functional but still gets you where you need to go. It is a great strain to inspire creativity, great for hanging with friends or enjoying on a hike. From a patient perspective, I found it to be great for increasing appetite and pain relief.
So was Horchata worth the money and would I buy it again?
Yes. I have been very impressed with every Dubz Garden and Gooniez strain I have tried. I love how they are both pushing the boundaries and coming with flavors and strains no one else is.
