Stoner Story
Some reviews are more challenging to write than others. As I have said in the past, I began this blog as a diary. Over time my writing, video production and blogging evolved.
I never intended on using this platform to tell a couple of my favorite artists that I am not a fan of their weed. However, I feel I need to keep it real for my readers. Also the idea of keeping it real is very much in line with the teachings and philosophies of RTJ’s music.
But before I get ahead of myself, I would like to start at the beginning. Run the Jewels is a long-time Independent Hip Hop Supergroup consisting of Killer Mike and El Producto. They have released four albums to critical acclaim routinely giving their music away on the release date. They recently signed a big label record contract and now working with the likes of Pharrell and DJ Premier.
El-P Background
I have been a fan of El-P’s for 23 years, ever since he released Funcrusher Plus with his first group, Company Flow. Company flow was a boom-bap New York Underground Hip Hop Group that God will punish you for sleeping on.
Eventually, El-P started the underground Hip Hop Label Definitive Jux which released so many classics and some of my favorite artists such as Aesop Rock and Cage. This entire time El-P was producing and rapping refining his craft.
El-P later went on to make waves beefing with Sole from Anticon (another underground supergroup). El-P recorded a phone conversation with Sole that he would later sample for a crazy bjork boom-bap remix that just demolished Sole claiming El-P the victor hands down.
Killer Mike Background
Meanwhile, Killer Mike was starting his career just a few years after El-P in Atlanta and saw quite a lot of success working with the likes of Outkast, Three 6 Mafia, Bun B and T.I.
Killer Mike is also very involved in politics. He played a big role in previous Bernie Sanders Campaigns speaking at events and was also a part of some major campaign videos.
Killer Mike and El-P came together in 2013 to form Run the Jewels. Together they took El-P’s evolved trancey boom-bap sound and began creating classic after classic. RTJ also had amazing cameos like Rage Against the Machine’s Zach De La Rocha, which allowed Zach to be heard on much traditional hip hop track while also staying very much in line with his original sound.
Not soon after that Run The Jewels were selling out shows as well as unique merchandise. I should know, I own their rare lunch box which includes two rolling trays, a grinder, and a bandana.
As Run The Jewels continue to see success they have seriously expanded on their unique merchandise line. Recently they released many different beer collaborations with brewers such as Horus, Mumford, Goose Island, Interboro and many more.
In addition to releasing beer, RTJ also recently released one of their favorite things to rap about, Marijuana. RTJ collaborated with the Cookies’ Brand Lemonnade to release the strain Ooh, LaLa.
Background
Lemonnade is a brand and dispensary started by Berner with a focus on Sativas. I have not had a good experience with their flowers in the past finding them to be low quality causing my throat to hurt. With that being the case, I went in with low expectations.
Genetics
Next, I began to research the strain as I normally do. I found that the strain Ooh LaLa by Lemonnade is the cross of Wedding Cake and London Pound Cake. Now I must say, that is quite the cross and some of the best strains when done right.
Appearance
The Ooh LaLa flowering tops are a light green hue in color with quite a bit of orange hairs and resinous trichome crystals. The batch I got was a bit on the drier side with very dense buds. Those are two attributes I try to avoid when buying an exotic top-shelf strain.
Aroma
I was also disappointed in the aroma as I was looking for a deeper sweet vanilla buttercream burnt almond nose. Be that as it may, I found the nose to be dominated by floral earthy herbal notes complemented by delicate vanilla buttercream notes.
The Inhale & The Exhale
The inhale had a very forward earthy herbal flavor profile with lite notes of vanilla buttercream and burnt almond. While I found the exhale to continue the herbal earthiness though also taking a slightly dramatic floral peppery turn.
The Smoking Experience
There was some slight expansion with a lot of coughing. Yet the coughing was not from the expansion but I found flowers’ smoke to be on the harsher side of things making my throat hurt. The harshness reminded my of smoking dry outdoor flowers.
The High
The high began with a quick head change but slowly turned into a head ache. Making Ooh LaLa the perfect strain for smoking out your arch nemesis or that dick co-worker.
So was it worth the money and would I buy it again?
Even going in with low expectations, I still had a disappointing experience and would not recommend these flowers. There are a lot better top shelf strains out right now I would recommend that would be a much better use of your sixty dollars.
Also taking into consideration the genetic lineage, Lemonnade could of really done a lot more with this strain. The complaints I had with this strain were inline with other Lemonnade strains I have tried in the past. IE: Dry, harsh flowers that give me a head ache and make my throat hurt.
Where can it be found?
Ooh LaLa can be found at Cookies and Lemonnade locations around the United States. I bought mine at Cookies San Diego.

The Final Word and Love Letters to El-Producto
Putting the Boof aside, I have been lucky enough to the see RTJ Live in Concert. They put on an amazing show that I recommend everyone go and see. I can also say that the music contributors to this blog, @ezduzit408 and @rickrockswell are also both big RTJ Fans and gleam a lot of inspiration from the duo.
PS. El-P if you read this, please organize a Company Flow reunion album and tour. I would love to hear you embrace your original sound.
